Diocesan Sacred Art Museum

The Sacred Art Museum in Bilbao holds and exhibits a substantial Biscayan religious heritage collection. Housed in the former Convent of La Encarnación, right in the heart of the Old Town, the museum brings together sculptures, paintings, gold and silverwork, liturgical vestments and historical artefacts that take visitors on a journey through centuries of art and religious tradition.

The exhibition offers an insight into the artistic, cultural and social value of Basque sacred heritage, showcasing works ranging from the Middle Ages to more recent times. The building that houses the museum, with its cloister and historical areas, make this a combined history, architecture and art experience.
