Donostia/San Sebastián Festival Drums and rhythm in the city

Donostia/San Sebastián

Donostia/San Sebastián

Every 20 January, Donostia/San Sebastián resonates with rhythms during one of the city’s best-known celebrations: the now-traditional Tamborrada.

At midnight on that day, the Plaza de la Constitución marks the start of a 24-hour festival in which music takes centre stage: drum and barrel bands parade through the streets performing Sarriegui’s marches, creating a unique atmosphere steeped in tradition and a festive rhythm that fills the city’s streets.

Throughout the day, groups of adults, gastronomic societies and the Children’s Tamborrada bring together locals and visitors of different generations to celebrate one of the city’s most iconic events.
