Azkuna Zentroa: design and culture in Bilbao
Bilbao
The Azkuna Zentroa, formerly the Alhóndiga de Bilbao, is now one of the city’s most dynamic and remarkable cultural venues. Its spectacular atrium, supported by 43 columns designed by Philippe Starck, each one different from the next, has become one of Bilbao’s most recognisable landmarks.
As well as its exhibition spaces, cinema and cultural activities, Azkuna Zentroa boasts a pleasant urban terrace and a well-curated shop where you can discover products and creations by Basque designers. The iconic swimming pool with its transparent floor, suspended above the main atrium, rounds off a space designed to allow visitors to enjoy culture and creativity from a variety of perspectives.
